As of the 30^th June 2011, we advised all of our commercial fit out builders that we would no longer take on any further commercial fit out jobs. 

We are grateful for the support we received over the years from builders and commercial fitout companies but decided it was time for a change in direction as a business.  

Col decided to semi-retire and only do small commercial and domestic maintenance jobs for 1-2 days a week or dependant on customer demand. Col and Rebecca have been focusing on maintenance since September 2009 due to the GFC and as a stepping stone for the new change of direction for our family business. This way we are not letting the running of the business rule our life. 

In August 2010, the Jacol Plumbing family celebrated the birth of a new addition to the family, Esther (Rebecca’s daughter). Rebecca finished her plumbing apprenticeship at the end of 2009 and devised a marketing strategy to target doing maintenance plumbing for stay-at-home mums and the elderly who appreciate a female plumber’s presence. The work is enjoyable and less stressful. We work together a couple days a week so that we can also focus on family commitments. Jacol Plumbing is too big a business for Rebecca to run on her own with a family and she has learned from Col’s daily dealings with Jacol not to let work rule her life and that is why we decided to head in this direction. Mark Triggell who has been looking after jobs for Jacol for the past 15 years wants to keep working in the commercial fitout industry Jacol focused on. His new business name is M E & J Plumbing Pty Ltd. Rebecca will be looking after the admin and Col will still be pricing the work for Mark.  

The construction industry has changed a lot in the past 5 years. Plans from consultants and architects are of a very poor standard with no details or measurements and the increase in paperwork due to workplace health and safety has and will continue to put stress on businesses financially and mentally. The crazy time frames and very difficult building managers and sometimes project managers who can not organize a job add even more stress on what is already a stressful industry.  Gone are the days for human error. There is always somebody or something to blame and to be quite honest we are glad to be exiting out now because it will continue to get worse.

Jacol Plumbing is a family owned business that has been operating since July 1995. It is owned by Colin and Janice Jones. JA from Janice + COL from Colin = JACOL Plumbing.

Jacol was run solely by Col Jones from 1995 until in May 2006 his daughter, Rebecca was invited to join the business to assist with the day to day running of the paperwork. In November 2006 Rebecca started a plumbing apprenticeship and today they are a dynamic team working to provide the best quality service to Commercial and Domestic customers alike.

Col Jones – Managing Director

• Col has been in the plumbing industry for 34 years, 14 of which he has been Managing Director of his own private plumbing company, Jacol Plumbing.
• Previously, Col had 9 years experience as Managing Director of Col Jones Plumbing, a large plumbing division of the office fitout company Formula Interiors Pty Ltd.
• It has been through Col’s previous positions and experiences that has lead to Jacol’s success in servicing and satisfying happy clients. We would love to make you one of them.

Rebecca Senyard – 2nd in Charge – 3rd Year Apprentice

• Rebecca is currently a third year plumbing apprentice and received the Dux QLD Plumbing Apprentice of the year for 2008. She has had experience in sales and customer service in both the transport and plumbing industries for the past 7 years. Her knowledge and proactive customer service skills are key to the current success of Jacol Plumbing.
• Rebecca will be the main point of call for every maintenance call and she looks forward to assisting you with your future plumbing maintenance needs.
